Halloween’s over, costumes are tucked away, children across Canada are slowly beginning to assemble their wish list for Santa Claus. Christmas is just around the corner – 34 days to be exact. For some, this is a season of family togetherness, presents around the tree, Santa Claus and twinkle lights; for others this is the time to give back and donate.
In Calgary, Alberta, an international relief and development organization is preparing to do just that. The Samaritan’s Purse has launched their annual ‘Operation Christmas Child’ program, which sends gift-filled “shoe boxes” to needy children each year. They’re inviting Canadians to make financial donations – this year to help provide medical aid to Haitians suffering through the recent cholera outbreak – one that experts have since upgraded to a full-fledged epidemic.
For the fourth year in a row, Sandman Hotel Group is getting behind this fundraising effort. If you book at any one of our four Calgary properties, between now and December 31, 2010, $10 dollars will go directly to the Operation Christmas Child fund. Just ask for the ‘Shoe Box’ rate, or go online and follow the link, and make a difference this Christmas to a group of people that need your help. Last year, we collected $12,000!!
